Sports Analytics Society
We are a gathering of students at Lisgar Collegiate Institute who are interested in the quantitative analysis of sports.
We are committed in bringing sports and mathematics together. We want to introduce the idea that the two fields can work in harmony by not only getting students involved, but also inviting speakers with careers in sports analytics to talk to students about opportunities in real life.
We meet every Wednesday during lunch in room 356. Come out and bring your lunch. We will chat about recent developments in the sporting world, our fantasy leagues, and our work with local teams. Eveyone is welcome and we are always open to new ideas.
We run fantasy leagues and bracket challenges for all major sports. We collaborate with high school and university teams to improve their productivity in games through careful strategizing on the court or field. We host Speaker Series to connect professionals and students.
We have three branches. The fantasy team runs the recreational side of the club. The outreach team are in charge of advertising, inviting speakers, and talking to coaches. The stats team does the collection and analysis of data to provide feedback to the coaches.
